san francisco

hey everyone =)
we've arrived in san francisco. nothing much to report - we drove ALL day yesterday from anaheim just to get here! we ate lotsa junk food in the car, stopped at a disney outlet shop on the way, i finished the LAST twilight book (breaking dawn) and we stopped at santa barbara for lunch on the way up. we stopped at 'carl's jr.' and had more fast food. america is the nation of plentiful fast food - i t's really quite sickening!

arrived here at 8PM last night, and went out for vietnamese pho last night (mmm asian food!) and now we're staying at my dad's sister-in-law's sister. so like my aunty's sister. (lemuel, elroi & ian & sarah's aunty)

we're about to go and explre san francisco city, so i'll upload pics later =)
love you all, miss you all..

disneyland II

i really CBS telling you all about it. basically, it was rides day, rides rides rides all day long =) disneyland is magical. seriously, it's every child/person's inner child's dream come true. its amazing.

and then we went to target. they sell mossimo here for like 1/3 of the price in mossimo shops in aus. i'm pretty sure their mossimo undies here dnt cost like $35. also, they sell coca cola, m&ms, skittles & jell-o lip smakers here.. cool huh? and i bought mascara for like $4. good stuff that usually costs like $20 in melb.

so yeah, haha. im so dead! heroes season 3 came out today!!! DOWNLOAD as soon as i get home!

will upload pics another day. in the mean time, my facebook is still fully stocked on previous photos.

love you all, miss you all =)
hope you guys are having an awesome holidays without me =( - movies, sleepovers, out for coffee days, shopping....

the O.C

"we've been on the run, driving in the sun, looking out for number 1, california here we come, right back where we started from" - phantom planet

so we are currently in anaheim, orange county, california. i've skipped a few days, so here's a quick update on our travels so far =)

19/9/08 - universal studios:
we went to universal studios in pasadena. it was great! we went on heaps of rides and went on the tour. we saw wisteria street, heaps of sound studios, where 'jaws' was filmed, where some of 'heroes' was filmed.. it was awesome! the whole thing was just really cool and fun. we did some shopping at universal city, i met spongebob & shrek & fiona. look at the pics when they come up!

20/9/08 - disneyland:
yesterday we went to disneyland - and i fulfilled my childhood dream of going into the big pink castle. i must admit, disneyland was the coolest place on earth. it really transported you to a completely different world. it brings out everyone's inner child and makes you believe anything can happen. disneyland brought back so many childhood memories. the rides were not that great, but we didnt go for the rides. it was amazing! i met the princesses, mary poppins, minnie mouse, mickey mouse & goofy. it was so much fun, and we're going back tomorrow! the best part was the parade and the fireworks at night. the shops were so cool and we walked until our legs didn't work anymore.

21/9/08 - seaworld in san diego:
today we drove to san diego to go to seaworld. honestly, it's not even as the same level as universal let alone disneyland. but, fun and educational nevertheless. it was filled with heaps of little aquariums. the shows were great - beats the queensland seaworld anytime. and we got home pretty earlier and ordered chinese tonight.

so we drove from pasadena to anaheim to san diego. wooo, it's been a long day.

america = the land of fast food, fast food is cheap and plentiful and delicious. we finally visited a diner called 'dennys' here. it was like $3 for a huge dinner!

tomorrow is disneyland rides and then san francisco the next day. i can't wait. i am so tired though, that's why this blog is so un-detailed =) sorry. will load up pics soon.

miles, pounds, ounces and driving on the wrong side of the road.

the only thing that's keeping me from thinking we're in another world is that they all speak english - and mcdonalds and subway still exist.

after my last blog, a last minute 'family reunion' call was made. a few more of my cousins and their girlfriends and aunties and uncles came around. ian w/ jackie, elroi, lemuel & mel, david yeoh, daniel, kuku ah vui, kuku ah moi, poh poh, kung kung, all came over. we had hokkien noodles - malaysian style FINALLY! and watched wall.e. it was..different! i found out all my cousins are all becoming big-shot journalists and film makers, directors etc. and when i saw elroi, dave & lem play guitar, it inspired me to get back with my learning of guitar =).

the next morning, we went for breaky with unc tham song. we had roti =) and lotsa teh tarik! it was awesome. then, we went to the airport and had kfc for lunch - i swear it tastes better in malaysia. then, we boarded our flight for LA.

malaysian airlines service is not as good as singapore airlines, but the food is better =) i watched narnia and what happens in vegas. then, i read a bit ate and we arrived in Taipei airport. we walked around and boarded the plane again. i watched episodes of 'the Big Bang theory', 'Ugly betty', 'Back to You', and 'Rules of Engagement'. read some, and then arrived at LAX (Los Angeles airport). after disembarking the plane and getting our passports checked, we waited 1/2 hour just to collect our bag. it was insane! then, we caught a shuttle to 'Holiday Inn' in Pasadena which is where we are now.

we drove through downtown L.A on the wrong side of the road. we drove past the 'staples centre' - i'd always seen this place in the movies.. its HUGE!

we met the nicest people - the girl who helped us get a shuttle, our shuttle driver (who was nigerian), a couple (who were south american) and a lady (who was german). the wife in the couple reminded me of jonny's mum, maybe because she was south american lol.

anyway, after arriving here, i had a shower - stupid showerhead! - and we just had dinner. it was so yummy.. in and out burgers - only available in california. mmm.. i am so getting fat!

tomorrow we're going to universal studios and then moving to anaheim and then going to disneyland in the next few days.

=) check out pics on facebook..

the great american trip.

the days passed:
we had a great dinner at the arulrajah's house last night. then, we left melbourne airport at 12.05 AM on the 17/9/08. we flew via singapore airlines. seriously, i am so so grateful that jetstar didn't have specials this time cos singapore airlines is SO much better! apple juice every 5 minutes, wide screen in-flight movies, movies on demand, food whenever you want... it's awesome! anyway, as usual, sleeping on the plane never usually happens for me. so, i watched 'made of honour' which turned out to be just a classic chick-flick, which wasnt so bad that time of the night, and '21', except i only had time for half of it - it was great! i slept probably 4.5 hours all up, and so was dead tired when we got to singapore changi airport at 5.25 AM. by the time we got to the other side of the airport for our transit to KL, it was time to board our next flight. it took off at 7.06 AM and i slept the ENTIRE way. we arrived at KLIA at 8.06 AM.

we took a taxi from the airport to kuku susu's house where we are staying tonight, and i slept again. as soon as we arrived, we were starving cos our bodies were telling us, 'it's 1 o'clock, time for lunch!' but the real clock was telling us, 'it's 10 AM, make up your mind!' so, we headed out for some good old malaysian hawker food - wonton mean, pork noodles & chee cheong fan. when we got back, poh poh and kung kung and kuku ah moi (my grandma, grandpa and auntie) came to visit us. they brought with them MORE food! some deep fried asian pastrie things - yao char kuai etc. YUM =) after that, me, mum and dad went to midvalley megamall and did some quick shopping. it was mega crowded and i felt SO clastrophobic! it was so hard to even find parking! like 20 mins.. then, i slept on the way hoem YET AGAIN. when we got back - suprise! we saw unc. tham wan and auntie moon tee with my niece (their granddaughter) Mikayla Yee and my cousins; serenity and keisha playing with justine and elysia. so, took lotsa pictures and yeah.

oh so here i am now. we will be leaving for LA tomorrow at mid-day. i'm already getting fat!! haha.

hope you all have a great week, and hopefully i'll be able to upload some pics soon!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMBER!! =)

miss you all!

in my life, be lifted high.

wow, long long time of not-blogging =)
sorry guys! busy busy stuff.

mm well the tassie trip was awesome, apart from the great time spent with old friends, this trip really put things into perspective for me. i really thought a lot about what i prize in my life, what i invest my time into, what kind of things REALLY make my 'top 10 priorities list'. and then i realised that God should be more apart of this list.

the wedding was beautiful. it was so nice to see tan finally getting married! the actual wedding was short and sweet, and then a whole lot of us proceeded to 'h&k' (a funky cafe which also sells art and awesome chai teas in launceston town) for afternoon tea. spent an awesome afternoon with the chugg kids.

apart from that, God's really been speaking to me and working in my life. lately he's been reminding me of his awesome power and strength. he's been constantly showing me examples of biblical characters trembling with fear of him. i guess i realised that sometimes when i come before God, i come so casually - like a buddy rather than an all-powerful God who can quite easily strike me dead in a split second. i mean yes, we should be able to come before God freely, and honestly, but we should also come in awe and reverence and holy fear towards him, because he is one MIGHTY God!

this morning, as i was doing my QT, i decided to spend it with God in silence. i didn't say one word (rare, i know!). i just sat and enjoyed his presence. i really heard him speak to me, showing me and telling me that he has a purpose for my life. i really believe that he's calling me into a deeper relationship with him, and he's going to use me mightyly, so i'm trying my hardest to be ready. but for once in a while, i feel like i'm living with a purpose and plenty of hope.

i decided to read a whole lot of books off my dad's shelf. lots of these are bible school books of theological stuff. the one i'm reading now is called, 'soul-winner' by C.H. Spurgeon. it's a REALLY old book with hard to understand english, but it's great. i'm really learning heaps, and it's really down to earth.

so all in all, me and God are great for the moment, which is fantastic!

year 10 chapel is next tuesday... EXCITEMENT!!!! i'm so excited! we're doing a 'God's Army' theme, with a dance, drama, short message, and finishing with 'shout unto God' by hillsong for worship. it should be amazing, and i'm really praying that God'll use us to speak to the rest of the school. year 11 chapel last tuesday was awesome. God's spirit was so evidently working within those who were willing to open their hearts to his work. God really used rach as she spoke so genuinely about giving God our ALL. i really believe God is beginning to raise up the genuine christians in our school and generation, that he will seperate those who are really after him, and those who are just playing christian. those who are willing to stand and be counted will be seperated from the mediocre christians. and i am so pumped!

my heart goes out to the families who've lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks, eight years ago now. it's really sad, and it's just another reminder of how fallen humanity is.

and. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZAC CHUGG =) big 13!

US of A in 5 sleeps. i'm so excited!

reminscing.

danica, aaron, david & donny - 1998
yesterday was malaysian national day, and so i felt very patriotic (MALAYSIA BOLEH!). today is my cousin david's birthday, and so i'm currently in the mood to reminisce over my childhood days spent in malaysia, hanging out with david yeoh. some quick (and embarassing) memories:

  • i wanted to marry david when i was four years old - then they told me you couldnt marry your cousin and i was shattered.

  • i remember playing that spy game on the holidays at poh poh's house with david, aaron & donny.

  • i remember watching the emperor's new groove with david - it was our favourite movie.

  • we used to watch dragon ball z

  • we used to watch power rangers and play with cars

  • i remember when we all went to aaron & donny's house and their dog 'shadow' bit me.

  • i remember singing backstreet boys & westlife & nsync with dave, aaron & donny

  • i remember learning how to rollerblade in poh poh's apartment carpark with dave, hau yang & yu yang

  • i remember when our brother/sister were first born.

  • i remember sleeping over at hau yang & yu yang's house and not sleeping until 6AM and going to sunway lagoon at midday the next day.

  • i remember our church camps with all the other kids when we used to play games

  • i remember lantern festivals when aaron, dave & donny used to bully me by throwing those white things that used to pop on the ground at me.

  • i remember going to our great aunty's house to play barbie dolls with dave when we were younger with our second cousins.

  • i remember going to ah meh's house with poh poh.

  • i remember watching re-runs of kuku pengpeng's wedding video at poh poh's.

  • i remember canaan power kids camps - making smores and playing heartattack, and derrick siow laughed so hard that milo came out of his nose.

  • i remember having to sing 'negaraku', 'the milenium song' and the school song every monday morning.

  • i remember how i used to embarass dave by saying hi to him at school everyday.

  • i remember canaan basketball days at BCM- youth vs. adults, and youth ALWAYS won.

  • i remember always buying those fish ball things dipped in chilli sauce after school for 20c a stick.

  • i remember having the best 60c nasi lemak at the sktk canteen.

and i remember always always having an awesome time w/ dave everytime i visit malaysia

  • seeing him tutor standard 1 girls and keisha
  • going to his house for sleepovers with hau yang & yu yang and dnming all night and going to the cinemas the next
  • seeing him play drums/guitar/bass/keys at church
  • telling him he sounds more and more like unc rolance everyday.
  • singing high school musical w/ him, aaron & donny.
  • camwhoring.
  • watching football.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID YEOH!

i miss the YEE clan and malaysia =(

________________________________________

on a completely different note, i had a wonderful day today =) i woke up this morning and thought, "i'm going to have a good day no matter what happens" and it turned out to be wonderful! school did drag on a bit, my piano student was restless after school, and i had a mountain of homework, but at the end of it all, it was a great day!

worked through some stuff with some friend(s). rekindled old friendships. smiled and laughed to myself =) the simple things in life, we always seem to forget them. God is so good, and just because a miracle happens often, does that mean it's not a miracle? just because the sun shines 24/7, is that no reason to thank God for his awesome creation of the sun, without which we wouldn't exist? of course not! he is so awesome.

xoxo.
